Argentinean Customs TAX ID / Commodity Code Reporting Requirements

Hapag Lloyd informs about important documentation changes for all shipments to Argentina effective May 3, 2010

We would like to inform you about important documentation changes for all shipments to Argentina effective May 3, 2010.
The latest official Argentinean Customs General Resolution #2744/09 available at http://www.afip.gob.ar requires that additional Bill of Lading and Manifest information be clearly provided. These requirements are summarized as:

  • The Consignee Tax ID number (known as CUIT/CUIL). In the event of ‘To Order’ Bill of Ladings, the Notify Party Tax ID must be provided
  • The 6 digit subheading commodity code (NCN - Harmonized System Code of Mercosur) of the goods must be provided. In case of multiple commodities, the reference must be towards the goods with the greatest value
  • Clear identification on cargo description if cargo will be moving under another House Bill of Lading by the shipper or forwarder, such as may occur with consolidated cargo

Based on the above, effective immediately, you are being requested to provide above mentioned information with your shipping instructions (SI) for the preparation of your Bill of Lading and subsequent ships Manifest.
Failure to provide such information on your final documentation may result in refusal to load or penalties/charges that may be assessed, being imposed by the Argentinean authorities.
