Introduction of SMD surcharge to China (PRC)

The current China (PRC) 24 hour Advanced Customs Manifest Regulation requires carriers to submit advance manifest data to China (PRC) Customs for all shipments destined to China (PRC).

To recover the systems-related and administrative costs associated with this requirement, Hapag-Lloyd will introduce a Security Manifest Documentation (SMD) Fee of

USD 30 per B/L or Seawaybill with effect from June 1, 2010

applicable for all shipments destined to China (PRC), with the exception of shipments from North America, which will come into effect on May 1, 2010 as per separate announcement.
